Your child created book wish lists on Monday and Tuesday. Please review the list, and if purchasing, send cash or a check to school with them. They will have the opportunity to come back to the fair with their class Wednesday and Thursday. Also, you can still purchase from your teacher's wish list or give them a gift certificate. Just indicate the amount and teacher on the student's wish list. Thanks for shopping!

Calling all artists! This year's yearbook theme is "Ravens RISE". The artwork that best conveys our theme will be chosen to be the cover of our yearbook! Submissions should be on 8.5" x 11" portrait orientation on white paper. You can use pencil, crayon, marker, gel pen, pain or even a computer to make your design (please no copyrighted images from the internet). Hard copy or high resolution .jpg format are acceptable. Be sure to write your name and grade on the BACK of your work lightly in pencil. The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 28. Drop your art in the box outside the office or email .jpg files to yearbook@ravensworthpta.org.

The next GRACE Art planning meeting is Tuesday, October 25 at 8:45 am in the cafeteria. Our artist for November is Frank Lloyd Wright. By now you should have heard about your classroom's scheduled GRACE Art time. Please volunteer! If your class does not have volunteers for docents or assistants, your child's class will not have a lesson! GRACE Art is something all students look forward to, so please help!

We have had a busy, fun month planning and participating in several service projects. David Cho, one of our next Eagle Scout candidates, planned and carried out his Eagle Scout service project to clear evasive plant species at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale. The Troop also supported the ServiceSource.org annual celebration, directing parking to help this organization recognize the people with disabilities it serves. As you know, service to our community is at the heart of Scouting.

In addition to serving, we honed our outdoor skills with a camping trip in the Shenandoah Valley where we went white-water rafting!  We got wet, hiked, swam, camped and had a lot of fun! This month, we will be heading to our District’s Fall Camporee where we will demonstrate our scouting skills in competitions against many other troops, defending our Troop’s championship title. Over the next few months, we are not just going camping, but doing SCUBA, skiing, snow tubing and much more…

Collecting Box Tops is an easy way to help our school earn money. As an incentive for bringing in Box Tops we are having a Box Top Competition! The competition will be in 3-month increments running September-November, December-February and March-May. At the end of each period, the class with the most Box Tops will win a prize! In addition, the class with the most Box Tops for the entire year will win a party at the end of the year. Send your Box Tops in labeled with your teacher's name and grade so that your class gets credit! There is a collection box in the lobby. There is a Box Top competition poster in the cafeteria, check often to see if your class is in the lead!
